As a result to the turn of events we decided to give the 8 finalist companies what they wanted; an actual software development competition. This was not just any software development competition though; it was an opportunity to show the world which company in our web/software marketplace employs the talent with the most drive, innovation and passion. It was an opportunity to show the world who the Top Employment Brand was and to be the Top Employment Brand you need to do more than show up to work 9-5 – you need to go above and beyond and take on every challenge that comes your way with the grit and determination of a champion.
We presented these companies with the challenge to develop and launch a fully functional open source web application that made it considerably easier for non-profit organizations and volunteers to connect, raising the volunteering activity and overall goodness done throughout the world. We announced the problem on Monday morning

And that winning company was Expedia.
