Job Title: Senior Operations Manager

Salary: Open DOE

Location: Northern California

Responsibilities:

• will ensure the consistent, reliable, and scalable operations of our client’s service
• will provide 99.99% uptime of the service for tens of millions of users
• will assist in making purchasing decisions and managing vendor relationships for 3rd party hardware, software, and networking systems
• will provide forecasting and analysis of company’s service operational needs (hardware/software)
• will be a vital Senior member of the Operations team (2-5 Sr. Operations Engineers / Network and Unix Administrators)
• will assist in recruiting, hiring, and training Sr. Operations Engineers
• will develop systems for instrumentation, measurement, monitoring, and analysis of the health and reliability of the service
• will be the senior member of a team that will respond and troubleshoot all Hardware / Software / Networking issues that come up 24×7x365
• will help design, build, and scale all software
• will work closely with the Server Engineering team to understand the product as its being developed
• will own all production configuration and deployment tasks
• will automate the operations of the service

Qualifications:

• must have 2-3 years management or lead experience
• must have strong expertise in UNIX/Linux systems
• must have strong TCP/IP Networking experience
• must have scripting/programming expertise
• should have strong metrics gathering/analysis skills
• must have experience with a variety of H/W products (firewalls, routers, servers, etc.)
• must have MySQL installation and configuration experience, and be able to administer at scale
• must be extremely organized and accountable
• must have excellent communication skills
• must have experience designing, building, operating and scaling a consumer internet service from scratch for tens of millions of customers
• must have a BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent
