LaidOffCamp

I have heard of Band Camps, Sport Camps and Boot Camps, but I have never heard of LaidOffCamp.  According to TechCrunch the first ever LaidOffCamp will be held on March 3rd, 2009 in San Francisco. 

BarCamps are common networking events in the Software Industry.  Wikipedia defines a BarCamp as an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants.  LaidOffCamp SF will have a similar setup.  It will be a place for unemployed techies to gather together to discuss how to live on a budget, how to develop a personal brand, and how to find a job in the current market. 

If you are interested in going to LaidOffCamp, Chris Hutchins the organizer of this event has created a page on Yahoo’s Upcoming, where you can RSVP and get up to date information on the event.  For all of you unemployed software engineers out there this is a great opportunity to get up off the couch and start networking.
