You are witnessing history in the making. If this deal goes through, this will be one of the biggest deals in the history of the software world. Enjoy the moment. If this goes through, it will be something that will be talked about for a long time to come. We will be spending our day calling Yahoo people today and get a perspective of how Yahoo insiders are responding to this new. I imagine some will want to jump ship, some will want to see what happens and some will want to be part of this new mega-company. Obviously we will recruit those who want out. I think our clients would be happy to have them. Those that want to see what happens should understand that nothing is going to happen. The thing they were waiting for already happened (their stock went up on the news of buyout). This is as good as its going to get for a good year or so. Whats to follow for the next year is a ton of events that will negatively impact one’s career. Until Yahoo responds to this offer, Yahoo will stay in a state of paralysis thereby hindering growth. If this deal does go through, there will be major layoffs because MS will not need double the operational load. They will also slow growth of current and new Yahoo initiatives until MS figures out how to best leverage the power of two companies. This next year will be a miserable place for anybody still employed by Yahoo. As we are calling Yahoo people, we intend to share any new information we learn with the rest of our company and with our blog readers so we can create a common voice about how this merger will effect the actual Yahoo employees. I believe that our clients and candidates need our guidance and expertise in this time of uncertainty. We intend to do our part as consultants and stay true to our mission.
